Pinky and Burtuqalla Died :'(
I know this could be the shallowest post ever, especially after the previous one but Pinky and Burtuqalla died :'(
The first thing my sister and I did after we arrived to the UAE we got three fish. Three tinny colourful ones. We couldn't decide their names so I call them according to their colours until we find proper names. The green one I liked the most. I call her Khadhra. She seems very respectful and elegant and I don't know why I feel related to her. Maybe because I have sort of greenish eyes and think that green suits me :|
Pinky was very energized and hyperactive. And after couple of hours we knew she can't be called Pinky because she seemed very bossy and had leadership quality. S/he started pushing the other two away. As for the orange one, Burtoqalla, she was defensive but nice.
I had a dream yesterday that I was changing their water and putting them in an empty jar!!!
My sister woke me rather late this morning smiling and laughing and saying "Pinky and Burtuqalla died". I opened my eyes and asked "no kidding" and she kept telling me all about how she found them dead this morning and she throw them in the garbage :(
I feel guilty. I insisted that we should get three because i don't want them to be lonely. I picked them one by one. I refused to change their water because i wanted to make sure about how to take care of them. Was about to call a friend to ask her from where she adds the water and how many times to feed them a day. Because the Chines guy who sold them could hardly communicate!
Staying up late, I was the last one to sleep yesterday. I didn't say good night to them!! It makes it harder for me because I fed them and they didn't eat a thing.
Please pray that Khadhra would live a longer life and enjoy it :)
Here's Buqla, the fish we left in Jordan with my sister's friend. I hope She's doing fine. I miss her terribly!
That's all for now!

We don't have a garden and no place to burry them :( and sosa is a new commer in here so she doens't know a lot about the place.

say hi to all
if you lsitened to me mn il bidaya and made masgoof out of them none of this would have happened!
Masgoof!!!
Have you seen the photos?!! how beautiful and small they are or "were" :'(
Attawie, I am sorry to hear that you lost two of your fish. I had a lot of fish when I was a young teen. I grew very attached to some of them and I was sad when they died.
I don't understand why your sister was smiling and laughing. If she knew that you really liked the fish, maybe she should have been more sensitive about your feelings.
Ok, I think that I can help you keep Khadhra alive and healthy. Fish are very sensitive to the water that they live in, so you must be careful when changing the water. I will recommend the following procedure. Take some water from your tap and put it in a container, preferably glass or stainless steel. Leave the container out overnight next to the fish tank with the top open. The open top will allow the chlorine to escape from the water. The time will also allow the water in the container to become the same temperature as the water in the fish tank. In the morning remove about one quarter of the water in the tank and dispose of that water. Now take the water in the container and refill the tank pouring it in slowly so the fish is not too disturbed. Repeat this water changing procedure twice a week.
Right now, I would assume that the water in the fish tank is very unclean, so you might want to change some of the water every day for a few days.
I hope that Buqla will do well. Maybe you can teach your sister's friend about changing her water to keep her healthy.
This website looks like it has a lot of information about keeping tropical fish. It can probably teach you a lot more than I know.

I will return later to comment on your previous post with the poetry. I need some time to read the poems and think about them. :)
Hi David,
Thanks for the tip and the link. Actually the Chines dealer gave us the three fish in a plastic bag and said that they can live three days in that bag. and at the back of the bag there were some instruction on how to change the water, just like you explained but in Chines :D
I bet you're smiling and asking how could read Chines :D it was written with some graphs. Anyways but i couldn't figure out if the water tab in the UAE can be used for fish. so khadhra is now swimming in mineral water for now.
Actually i still don't know why she was laughing when she told me. it could be the "i told you so" or just being herself!! we'll wait for her comment on that.
Hi Attawie how r u?
I'm sorry for your fish and allow me to say that raising fish is not easy thing but it is not hard either (and take this from a guy who have raised a lot of animals over the years) when your fish catch something u can't notice right-away and that what makes it difficult and that's the tricky part but what make their raising easy is that their needs are quite few food and clean water.
Anyway I apologize for lecturing u and I hope that the last fish will have a long life...
kyubaiiiiii
hiiiiii where are you???!!!!
tanks for the comment and the quick reply. it's been ages now.
I know about that but actually i had lectures for two evenings and my sister is supposed to be an expert in raising fish. yup absolutely food and clean water. good to hear form you. Thanks for your wishes. I'll do my best to keep khadhra.
but i mean, i can see how beautiful and cute they are, but you can only imagine how nice they would be when yitgargi6oon :D :D :D
HAHA :D
ok ok no more evil khalid thoughts, you know i am only kidding! they are so sweet allah ykhalleelich kha`6ra titrabba ib kher o 9i77a o 3afya inshalla :D
Congratulations on your talent for reading Chinese! ;) Actually, I am pretty good with Chinese directions too. I can just look at the pictures and figure most things out. :)
I think that if the water from your tap is safe for you to drink, it is probably safe for your fish too.

Evil Khalid,
stay away from the fish subject!!! you made me feel real guilt after you told me maybe they died because they couldn't handle living with such silly names!!!!
as for khalid, i know you're kidding :D and it seems kha'9ra is enjoying her time. keep praying :P
David,
We don't drink water from tap and that's why it took us 4 days to change the water. i feel more guilt now, seriously!
got them on Friday.. they were supposed to live three days in that water.. Tuesday morning we found them dead... i guess i should feel guilty :(
i wasn't laughing when i told her that they died, i start laughing once she knew.
you should have seen the look on her face and her expression when she started to cry.
well I'm still laughing at her, even when i'm writing this comment :D :D
