My Arabic Calligraphy Homework Notebook

Ladies and gentlemen,

I'm proud to present to you the first set of alphabet of Arabic Calligraphy - Diwani style. This is the first movie I make from photos using Picasa 3. I don't have a scanner so I was using mobile cam, and my camera. Bad lighting and lazy me :)

Enjoy :)

I thought making a movie is better than posting 20 photos or more. if you can't view the video then check this or try the following online album:

Arabic Calligraphy

That's all for now

Absoultely beautiful mashalla 3laich. The "seen" remains my favorite but the "qaf" is pretty cool too. I love them all :).

Programmer Craig,
That was a movie made from photos and I'm not planning to broadcast my voice, at least for now.

Thank you, amen. Working on a poem these days, the Burda (banat su3ad).. Will share soon inshaAllah.

Thank you. long time no see!

Moonlight,

I was able to watch the video. I like the S - seen shape. I also like the L & K (Lam & Kaf). The H - Ha' shape is interesting. It reminds me of a heartbeat on an electrocardiogram.

It looks like you are becoming very good at calligraphy. Do you plan to make works of art using the skill? I remember the pictures you showed of one of your mentors who makes clay calligraphy sculptures. I was very impressed by his work!

David,
Actually when I added the online album I thought it might be a good idea since David has a slow connection. :)
the H (Ha') shapes you saw are the three shapes: initial, middle and final. that's why it looked like this. it's like ه , ـهـ , ـه
which makes it look like هـهـه

The behind taking this course is to add calligraphy on my ceramic works and paintings. I'm sort of following my mentor's steps :)

The Bu Qitter restaurant sounds like what we would call a "hole in the wall". That basically means a very small and unassuming place that turns out to be very surprising and pleasant. The fish in the picture looks really delicious! :)
